Choice of Entity

One of the first choices you will make as a new business is what type of entity you should form. That decision may be bigger than you initially think, and depends upon many factors. This is always best determined after a careful review of all of the information related to your business, and needs to be one of the first steps you take.

Many small business owners hope that this decision can be made by looking at a chart and answering a few simple questions. The truth is that even when looking at a chart of options and figuring out which entity makes the most sense, there are many tax implications that may not have been factored in.

Any expert out there will tell you that the best person to determine your business entity type is your attorney and your accountant. Time needs to be taken to look into all of the legal ramifications and the tax situation of not only the newly-forming entity but possibly other entities already in existence of any other owners.

Take a look at our Choice of Entity chart and give us a call. We’ll help you navigate and figure out what option is best for you.
